Head of German Tax System Implementation

Position Overview
As a global leader in new energy vehicles and battery manufacturing, BYD continues to deepen its presence in the European market and strives to enhance operational efficiency worldwide. We are currently building a European Tax Compliance Center to centralize, standardize, and streamline tax filing across all member countries.
As the Head of German Tax System Implementation, you will be responsible for designing and establishing the internal tax compliance framework for BYD in Germany from the ground up, ensuring full compliance with local tax regulations and alignment with the group’s operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of BYD’s internal tax compliance, filing, monitoring, and reporting systems in Germany.
Review and assess the current tax filing processes, systems, and potential risk areas across BYD’s German business units.
Design standardized internal tax compliance processes in accordance with German tax laws, covering but not limited to VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Withholding Tax (WHT), and other relevant taxes.
Collaborate closely with the Group IT team to drive the development and deployment of automation tools, tax engines, and ERP tax modules.
Establish and implement tax risk management mechanisms and internal control frameworks to proactively identify and mitigate tax risks.
Act as the German tax subject matter expert, providing training, guidance, and knowledge transfer to the internal team within the European Tax Compliance Center.
Coordinate and manage communications with German tax advisors and tax authorities to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Law, Economics, or related fields.
Minimum 3 years of experience in European tax or 5 years in a Big Four tax-related role, with a solid understanding of corporate direct and indirect tax compliance requirements.
Experience in tax process design, internal controls, or automation implementation is a strong plus.
Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
Excellent English communication and writing skills; proficiency in German or other European languages is a plus.
Self-motivated, with a strong sense of responsibility and a proven ability to build systems from scratch.
