About the role:
Reports to: Head of Energy Systems & Storage
Role overview:
The Energy Storage Solution Manager will lead the regional development, deployment and commercialisation of BYD energy storage products and integrated solutions. This role combines technical product stewardship, market development, project lifecycle support and cross-functional coordination to drive revenue growth and ensure successful customer outcomes across commercial, industrial and utility segments.
Key responsibilities:
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap
· Define and maintain the regional product roadmap for energy storage systems (ESS), aligning with global product teams and local market needs.
· Develop value propositions and commercial models for different segments including commercial & industrial (C&I), residential, grid services and utility-scale projects.
· Support pricing strategy, TCO (total cost of ownership) analysis and lifecycle cost modelling to maximise competitiveness and profitability.
2. Project Support & Delivery Enablement
· Provide technical and commercial support through the sales lifecycle: opportunity qualification, proposal development, technical due diligence, and contract negotiation.
· Liaise with Engineering, Procurement and Operations teams to ensure project requirements, specifications and delivery timelines are met.
· Assist with system design reviews, grid compliance, interconnection requirements and performance guarantees.
3. Market Development & Partner Management
· Identify and develop strategic partnerships with developers, EPCs, utilities, energy service companies and financing partners.
· Drive market intelligence activities including competitor analysis, market sizing and policy monitoring to inform go-to-market plans.
· Represent BYD at industry events, customer workshops and stakeholder meetings to promote product adoption and capture market opportunities.
4. Commercial & Contract Management
· Prepare and review commercial proposals, statements of work, and contractual terms in collaboration with Commercial and Legal teams.
· Manage bid processes, ensuring timely submission of compliant and compelling proposals.
· Support the development of warranty, service and O&M offerings to enhance customer confidence and long-term value.
5. Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
· Define KPIs for deployed systems and monitor operational performance, availability and energy throughput.
· Collect customer feedback and field data to drive product improvements, reliability enhancements and service processes.
· Work with Analytics and Digital teams to leverage monitoring platforms and data analytics for predictive maintenance and performance optimisation.
Key results
· Successful commercial launch and deployment of regional energy storage projects across target segments.
· Growth in secured project pipeline and conversion of opportunities into signed contracts.
· High customer satisfaction and strong operational performance of deployed systems.
· Effective partnerships established with EPCs, developers and financing partners.
· Clear, actionable market intelligence and product feedback provided to global teams.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, Business or a related discipline.
· 5+ years' experience in energy storage, renewable energy project development, power systems or related sectors.
· Strong technical understanding of battery energy storage systems, power conversion, grid interconnection and protection principles.
· Experience in commercial bid management, project lifecycle support and customer-facing roles.
· Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks, grid codes and incentive mechanisms is desirable.
· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Finance and Legal teams.
· Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver to deadlines.
· Proficient in English; additional European languages are an advantage.

The Energy Solutions team is responsible for the development, commercialisation and operational excellence of BYD’s battery storage products and integrated energy offerings. The department focuses on delivering reliable, cost-effective solutions that support decarbonisation, grid stability and customer energy goals across Europe.
