About the Role

As Site Acquisition Manager – Czech Republic & Slovakia, you will be responsible for identifying, securing, and progressing strategic locations for the deployment of BYD’s Flash Charging network across both markets.

You will own the end-to-end local site acquisition process — from market scouting and initial feasibility assessment through stakeholder engagement, commercial alignment, permitting coordination, and readiness for deployment. Your focus will include greenfield developments, strategic mobility locations, retail and commercial destinations, highway corridors, as well as existing EV charging locations that can be acquired, upgraded, or converted to BYD Flash Charging standards.

Acting as BYD’s primary local interface with landowners, property developers, municipalities, utilities and grid operators, infrastructure owners, and charging site operators, you will build a scalable pipeline of strategically positioned locations supporting BYD’s long-term charging network expansion.

You will work closely with the Legal & Commercial team, which provides contractual frameworks, commercial governance, negotiation support, and risk management. While Legal & Commercial owns contract structures and commercial guardrails, you will take ownership of local execution, stakeholder relationships, and progressing opportunities toward deployment readiness.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities

Site Identification & Pipeline Development

• Identify and proactively source suitable locations for BYD Flash Charging deployment across the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

• Develop opportunities across key location types, including:

  • Highway and major transit corridors

  • Greenfield infrastructure locations

  • Retail and commercial destinations

  • Urban and mixed-use developments

  • Public and semi-public land

  • Existing EV charging stations suitable for retrofit, upgrade, acquisition, or long-term lease

• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of strategic sites aligned with BYD’s network rollout priorities.

• Identify opportunities to acquire existing charging locations, retrofit underperforming infrastructure, and upgrade legacy fast-charging sites into Flash Charging hubs.

• Support the development of strategically important charging locations across major mobility corridors in both markets.

Site Feasibility & Evaluation

• Conduct initial screening and assessment of potential locations, including:

  • Accessibility and traffic flow

  • Site footprint and future expansion potential

  • Grid availability and potential upgrade complexity

  • Permitting and zoning considerations

  • Construction feasibility

  • Long-term operational suitability

• Coordinate early feasibility assessments with Deployment, Energy, Product, and Technical teams.

• Identify potential technical, regulatory, commercial, or operational constraints early in the acquisition process.

• Prioritize opportunities based on strategic relevance, feasibility, scalability, and long-term network value.

Strategic Site Acquisition & Retrofit Projects

• Lead the local identification and progression of strategic site acquisition opportunities, including greenfield developments and long-term land leases.

• Progress opportunities involving the acquisition or long-term use of existing EV charging locations.

• Identify retrofit and modernization opportunities for existing charging infrastructure.

• Evaluate existing charging locations with regard to grid capacity, expansion potential, accessibility, traffic performance, operational limitations, and redevelopment feasibility.

• Coordinate technical and commercial assessments required for investment decisions and site prioritization.

• Work with internal stakeholders to develop scalable deployment opportunities aligned with BYD’s long-term network strategy.

• Escalate complex commercial structures, acquisition risks, and multi-party negotiations to the Legal & Commercial team when required.

Local Stakeholder Management

• Act as BYD’s primary local interface with landowners, site hosts, commercial real estate owners and developers, charging site operators, municipalities, public authorities, utilities and grid operators, and infrastructure partners.

• Build strong and trusted relationships to facilitate site acquisition, permitting, redevelopment, and long-term cooperation.

• Represent BYD’s infrastructure investment strategy and Flash Charging network vision in discussions with external stakeholders.

• Coordinate effectively with stakeholders across both the Czech and Slovak markets throughout the acquisition process.

Commercial Coordination & Deal Progression

• Lead local commercial discussions within predefined pricing, contractual, and commercial frameworks.

• Coordinate discussions with Charging Point Operators (CPOs) where relevant.

• Prepare site-specific business proposals, opportunity summaries, and internal approval packages.

• Work closely with the Legal & Commercial team to apply standard contractual frameworks and templates.

• Identify and escalate contractual deviations, commercial risks, and complex negotiation topics.

• Support multi-party negotiations where required and ensure agreed commercial terms remain within approved frameworks before contract finalization.

• Maintain clear documentation of site-specific commitments, commercial conditions, and outstanding actions.

Permitting & Pre-Deployment Readiness

• Coordinate local permitting and approval processes in cooperation with authorities, external consultants, technical teams, and relevant partners.

• Identify potential permitting, zoning, grid, access, and infrastructure risks at an early stage.

• Track the progress of required approvals and ensure key dependencies are addressed before deployment.

• Ensure acquired sites are contractually and practically ready for handover to the Deployment team.

• Act as the local owner of site readiness through the acquisition phase until Notice-to-Proceed.

Cross-functional Coordination

• Act as the bridge between local stakeholders and internal teams, including Site Acquisition & Partnerships, Deployment, Energy, Service & Maintenance, Finance, Legal & Commercial, and relevant CPO teams.

• Ensure site-specific constraints, commitments, dependencies, and risks are clearly documented and communicated.

• Coordinate internal stakeholders to maintain momentum throughout the acquisition process.

• Support a smooth transition from site acquisition to deployment without avoidable contractual or operational blockers.

Key Results

Site Pipeline & Network Expansion

• Development of a strong and scalable pipeline of strategically relevant Flash Charging locations across Czech Republic and Slovakia.

• Successful identification and progression of greenfield, acquisition, lease, and retrofit opportunities.

Site Acquisition & Readiness

• Timely progression of priority sites from initial identification through commercial alignment and deployment readiness.

• High-quality site selection with appropriate consideration of grid capacity, permitting, accessibility, scalability, and long-term operational requirements.

Stakeholder & Deal Management

• Strong relationships with landowners, developers, municipalities, utilities, infrastructure partners, and charging operators.

• Effective progression of commercial discussions within approved contractual and financial frameworks.

Deployment Quality

• Smooth handover of commercially and operationally viable sites to the Deployment team.

• Early identification and mitigation of risks that could delay construction, operations, or future site expansion.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business, Engineering, Infrastructure Development, Urban Planning, or a related field is preferred.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in site acquisition, commercial real estate development, infrastructure expansion, EV charging, or a comparable field.

• Proven experience in greenfield infrastructure development and/or acquisition or long-term leasing of operational infrastructure assets.

• Experience evaluating, acquiring, or developing EV charging locations is strongly preferred.

• Experience negotiating with landowners, property developers, municipalities, utilities, infrastructure owners, CPOs, or commercial real estate stakeholders.

• Experience working across the Czech and/or Slovak infrastructure, real estate, energy, or mobility sectors is a strong advantage.

Technical & Business Skills

• Good understanding of site acquisition and infrastructure development processes.

• Understanding of permitting, zoning, grid connection constraints, and infrastructure redevelopment.

• Ability to evaluate locations from commercial, technical, operational, and long-term scalability perspectives.

• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.

• Ability to prepare business cases, site assessments, approval materials, and management recommendations.

• Comfortable operating within standardized contractual and commercial frameworks.

• Familiarity with EV charging infrastructure and CPO business models is a strong advantage.

Languages

• Fluent Czech and English, both written and spoken.

• Slovak language skills are strongly preferred.

• Additional European languages are an advantage.
