About the department:

The R&D department plans the sustainable product and technology road map for Europe and works on developing advanced, full electric vehicles series, which fulfill current and future European private transportation market needs. By cooperating with European leading suppliers, the R&D department continuously upgrades design and engineering abilities for excellent product performance and quality.
As R&D Engineer, you will do research, analysis and evaluation of E-mobility products, user experience and usability of both passenger cars and commercial vehicles. You will use these research insights for the product development and iteration, working closely together with product, design and engineering teams.
Your main responsibility is:
- Regulatory Research and Compliance:
- Participate in European automotive safety research organisations and technical associations to stay informed of the latest industry trends and development requirements. Monitor updates to European road safety regulations and standards, study advancements in active safety technologies, and provide strategic input for innovative product design.
- Competitive Benchmarking:
- Conduct benchmarking and technical analysis of competitor ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) functions, performance and design solutions. Produce comprehensive analysis reports to support the development and optimisation of BYD vehicle safety systems.
- Euro NCAP Development:
- Contribute to the target setting and design development of Euro NCAP five-star active safety performance. Track development progress and ensure deliverables meet the defined quality and performance standards.
- Vehicle Safety Testing:
- Follow up on Euro NCAP active safety, automated driving (AD) and media testing programmes. Ensure testing outcomes meet expected targets and performance benchmarks.
- Market Performance Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor the real-world performance of active safety systems in the market. Collect and analyse user feedback, test results and industry assessments to validate system effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Accident Investigation and Data Analysis:
- Investigate and analyse accidents involving active safety systems to identify root causes and propose corrective measures. Utilise real-world accident data to refine system design and reduce potential incident rates.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with product design, R&D and quality control teams to drive the development, validation and optimisation of ADAS and active safety technologies. Ensure alignment with safety standards and seamless integration of new technologies into vehicle platforms.
Your personal information:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above .
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in related automotive fields.Be familiar with the relevant regulations of the automotive industry in the European Union.
- Location: Based in Budapest, Hungary; candidates able to work long-term in Hungary are preferred.
