Your Mission

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Portuguese accounting standards and IFRS, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, audits, and statutory compliance in Portugal.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with IFRS and Portuguese GAAP (SNC)

• Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.

• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.

• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Ensure compliance with Portuguese tax requirements, including VAT (IVA), CIT, and statutory reporting.

• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and explanations.

• Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

• Assist in process improvements and implementation of accounting best practices.

• Collaborate with AP, AR, payroll, and controlling teams.

• Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.

• Prepare group management reports and financial analyses

• Calculate and manage dealer rebate schemes.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• 3+ years of experience in General Ledger or Financial Accounting

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and Portuguese accounting standards (SNC)

• Solid understanding of Portuguese VAT (IVA) and statutory reporting requirements

• Experience with SAP ERP systems.

• Advanced Excel skills

• Experience in a multinational or shared service environment is a plus.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Good communication skills in Chinese/English (Portuguese is a strong advantage)

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
