Pan-European Compliance Lead

Role Purpose
Based in Hungary, the Pan-European Compliance Lead plays a pan-European role in managing workplace conduct and employee relations compliance matters across the region.
While the position is located in Hungary, its scope covers multiple European markets, supporting both Western Europe and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). The role combines hands-on case management with the progressive development of consistent, scalable compliance frameworks across Europe.
In the initial phase, the focus will be on direct ownership of complex compliance cases across different jurisdictions. Over time, the role will evolve into a key contributor in building a coherent Pan-European approach to workplace conduct, employee relations governance, and risk management.
This position works closely with HR, Legal, and business leaders across Europe, acting as a regional subject-matter expert and ensuring that people-related risks are managed in a compliant, practical, and business-aligned way.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hands-on Management of Compliance Cases & Workplace Conduct
● Lead and manage complex workplace conduct and employee relations cases across multiple European jurisdictions
● Handle cases involving misconduct, disciplinary actions, internal investigations, and terminations
● Partner closely with HR, Legal, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent and defensible outcomes
● Maintain high-quality documentation and ensure audit-ready case management
2. Employment Law Compliance & HR Risk Management
● Ensure compliance across the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, employment changes, and termination
● Provide practical, solution-oriented guidance on employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions
● Support compliance in key HR areas such as:
○ Compensation and benefits
○ Recruitment and hiring practices
○ Incentive and bonus schemes
○ Employee-related intellectual property and contractual terms
● Ensure compliance with GDPR and employee data protection requirements
3. Build & Standardize Compliance Frameworks
● Support the design and implementation of Pan-European workplace conduct and employee relations compliance frameworks
● Translate case experience into clear guidance, playbooks, and minimum standards
● Ensure frameworks are practical, scalable, and adaptable to local legal environments
● Establish clear escalation models, roles, and governance mechanisms across markets
4. Risk Identification & Preventative Controls
● Identify emerging risks through case trends, stakeholder feedback, and operational insights
● Highlight systemic issues or inconsistencies across countries
● Build visibility on key compliance risks across Europe
● Propose preventative and pragmatic measures to mitigate risks
5. Stakeholder Advisory & Capability Building
● Act as a trusted advisor to HR, management, and business leaders across Europe
● Provide clear, actionable guidance on handling sensitive people matters
● Support training sessions and workshops to strengthen compliance awareness
● Enable local teams to manage issues effectively with appropriate escalation
6. Governance & Continuous Improvement
● Challenge existing practices and identify gaps in compliance and governance
● Review policies, processes, and case outcomes to drive continuous improvement
● Support implementation of fit-for-purpose governance structures
● Contribute to building a consistent workplace conduct culture across Europe
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
● 6–10 years of experience in compliance, employee relations, employment law, HR governance, or related fields
● Strong hands-on experience managing complex employee relations or compliance cases
● Experience working in multi-country European environments (Pan-European or regional scope)
● Good understanding of EU employment-related frameworks and directives
● Solid knowledge of Hungarian labor law; broader CEE exposure is an advantage
● Ability to operate independently in fast-paced and evolving environments
● Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
● Fluency in English
Preferred
● Experience in fast-growing, international, or matrix organizations
● Exposure to sales-driven or commercial organizations
● Experience working with or alongside Asian or Chinese companies
● Knowledge of additional European languages
