About BYD Auto Hungary
On 22 December 2023, BYD announced the construction of a new energy vehicle production base in Szeged, Hungary, which will be built in phases. The new production base is planned to adopt globally advanced process equipment and highly automated production processes to create a world-leading new energy vehicle manufacturing base.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Framework & Corporate Governance Compliance Architecture:
Lead the design, implementation, and localization of corporate policies and compliance programs tailored to the manufacturing sector.Corporate Governance: Manage board resolutions, statutory filings, and legal representative authorizations for the Hungarian legal entities.
Regulatory Monitoring: Proactively track changes in Hungarian/EU laws (especially regarding environmental, labor, and safety standards) and update internal systems accordingly.
Commercial & Operational Contracts Full-Cycle Contract Management:
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including high-value Procurement (raw materials, equipment), Sales, Logistics, and Service contracts.Site-Specific Legal Support & Advisory Day-to-Day Counseling:
Act as the primary legal point of contact for plant managers on operational issues, including land use, utilities, and EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety).Labor & Employment: Advise HR on labor law compliance, employment contracts, and workplace dispute prevention.
Dispute Resolution & Crisis Management Litigation Management:
Manage and resolve both litigation and non-litigation disputes with suppliers, contractors, or other third parties.Emergency Response: Lead the legal response to potential government audits, compliance investigations, and other unforeseen corporate emergencies.
European Headquarters Support Regional Collaboration:
Provide legal support and assistance to the European Headquarters (HQ) on legal matters, or other strategic initiatives as required.Miscellaneous Legal Affairs:
Handle any other legal matters related to factory construction, operation, or general corporate affairs as assigned.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required:
Education: law degree; qualified to practice law in Hungary.
Experience: 5+ years of post qualification legal experience, ideally with a focus on manufacturing, electronics, or the automotive/battery industry.
Skills: Deep understanding of Hungarian Commercial, Corporate, and Labor Law.
Experience: in multisite management or greenfield project support is a strong plus.
Languages: Native/Bilingual in Hungarian; Professional working proficiency in English.
Mobility: Ability and willingness to travel to Komárom, Páty, and Fót as required by project needs.
